Speech Writing Process
for Academics and the Workforce
Dear Students,
The purpose of this package is to help you learn how write an effective speech to help you in your academic classes and in the workforce. You will learn the process of speech writing as well as have an opportunity to practice the steps necessary to write effectively, to improve your delivery, and to learn critical thinking skills that are necessary for academic success. In addition, the skills you will learn in this process are helpful in the workforce. You will adjust your content by narrowing your topic and meeting the needs of your audience. As part of the speech-writing process in this unit, you will eventually deliver your speech and receive feedback from your peers. Feedback forms are standard practice in the jobs that most of you will have. The comments you receive from your instructor and from your peers will demonstrate what you need to do to improve your overall speech writing and delivery throughout your lives. Follow the instructions as closely as possible, and ask your instructor for assistance as needed.
