Remember:

Don't separate prepositional phrases with commas unless they function as transitional phrases.

Prepositional Phrases as Transitions

Directions: Put a comma after the prepositional phrase if it forms a transition in the sentence.  There are 10 in all.

I was at my neighbor’s house the other day. During our visit she complained about her husband’s snoring.  To her the snoring is so loud it wakes her up.  At night she can’t fall asleep at all if he falls asleep first.  In the morning she feels groggy because she can never get a full night’s rest.  In addition he is completely unaware of the snoring and sleeps through the night without any problems.  I gave her some advice.  One tip is that they might consider sleeping in separate rooms. For example she could sleep in their guest room.  From my perspective this won’t work because their house is too small.  On the other hand the snoring might be a result of a health problem.  In that event I recommended seeing a doctor as soon as possible.  In my opinion if the snoring doesn’t stop, they will need some professional help soon.
