Use the Past Simple when an action is a completed action in the past.
Past Simple Tense
Change the words in bold to the past simple tense.
They (1) met 20 years ago. On the day they (2) met, he invited her on a date. He (3) took her to a movie. They (4) saw The Dark Knight. Afterwards they (5) ate dinner. Then they (6) went out for some coffee. After dating for about a year, he (7) asked her to marry him. They (8) had a long engagement, but they finally (9) got married two years later. It (10) was a small wedding.
