Past Progressive used for Describing a Setting
Read the following sentences and change the verbs in parentheses to the Past Progressive tense.
A Wedding in the Park
One day, there was a wedding in the park behind my house. I (watch) the wedding from a bench in my back yard. No one saw me, though, because a rose bush (cover) me from view. The bridesmaids and groomsmen (wait) patiently by the alter for the ceremony to begin. A nice breeze (blow) and the weather was very mild. Some people (walk) around the path, but they (not bother) anyone. At noon, the music started and the groom walked down the isle. His tie (blow) in the breeze. Shortly afterwards, the bride appeared. The (smile) and her eyes (shine). She sun (beam) on her white dress. Her dress (glow) so brightly that people (squint). The ceremony itself was very short and sweet, but I will always remember it.
