Speaking Course Project: Interviews

A portion of your speaking class could include interviews. The ideal interview would take place between individuals and someone who is not affiliated with the school or ESL program. This way, students get a chance to explore the town they're in (if they've moved), or they get to meet new people in a familiar area.

Look to the right of the page for collecting recorded data from students.

Other methods of grading this assignment or monitoring students' progress would be to have them verbally summarize the interview to the class and share information that they learned from the interview with the class.

Before you send them out to interview someone from the general public, have them practice their interview questions and techniques (without note cards) in the structured environment of the classroom.
