Suggestions:

to blow is a verb. It can be conjugated into any verb tense as an irregular verb.

blew = past tense
blown = past participle

When you blow off steam, literally imagine yourself blowing the steam off a cup of tea. You are trying to cool it down. When you are trying to release stress, you can also use the expressions "cool down" or "cool off".

Try to avoid misuse of these expressions!

Expressions with Blow

Blow occurs in many phrases. The most common use of blow refers to the wind. The expressions here use the word blow in its other contexts such as hit, say, and explode.

Blow a gasket

to get very angry and show your emotions visually or verbally


Blow the whistle

to tell an authority figure about a scheme

explaining every detail;  point by point

to release anger or tension

to lie  

 

Blow your mind

to be intellectually or visually stimulating

 

Blow your own horn

to talk about yourself in a favorable manner

to get very angry and show your emotions visually or verbally

to exaggerate
