Suggestions:
to blow is a verb. It can be conjugated into any verb tense as an irregular verb.
blew = past tense
blown = past participle
When you blow off steam, literally imagine yourself blowing the steam off a cup of tea. You are trying to cool it down. When you are trying to release stress, you can also use the expressions "cool down" or "cool off".
